review CALIFORNIA album (blink182)

Blink-182 premiered “Bored to Death” today (April 27). The track is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, California, set for release July 1st.
Originally scheduled to premiere Thursday, the track leaked early so the guys decided to bump up the schedule. They joined KROQ afternoon host Ted Stryker to officially play the song for the first time on the airwaves. Listen and watch the lyric video above.

Talking about how they came up with the album title, the band joked that there were other names that didn’t make the cut. “There was one title that was called ‘No Future,’ explained Travis. “But people felt it was very negative. laugh I thought it was awesome.” Hoppus then offered a funnier title. “I suggested OBGYN Kenobi.” “Nude Erection,” added Travis with a laugh.
“I think any fan of Blink-182 is going to be ecstatic when they hear the music. I really do!,” says KROQ Music Director Lisa Worden. “It sounds like Blink-182 but it sounds like Blink in 2016. Lyrically, the songs are clever.” Worden explains that of songs she’s heard, it’s primarily Hoppus on vocals with Skiba adding harmonies. “As a fan of the band for the last 20 years, I was so happy with what I heard. It was the band I’ve loved all these years.”
