Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba stepped in when Tom DeLonge left Blink-182 last March, and now Skiba says he’d like to record an album with the band.
“I’ve known the Blink guys for about 15 years and we’ve become good friends,” Skiba told Alternative Nation. “Playing songs I haven’t written with Mark and Travis is a blast, so to go in and create music with them would be amazing.”
In March, Skiba announced a new album with his other band, Matt Skiba and the Sekrets, expected out this June. But should Skiba have the time, he called an album with Blink-182 a “great idea.” “It’s something we have discussed,” Skiba said.
When speaking to Alternative Nation last month, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker praised Skiba and said doing an album with DeLonge’s stand-in would be “unreal.” “I don’t know if that’s a possibility yet because I can’t speak for everybody,” Barker added. But with two-thirds of Blink-182’s current members on board, an album could be on the horizon.
